Christina’s heart pounded, and her blood raced like the Indy 500 under her skin. She was dressed so skimpily she might as well be naked, and she’d made enough food to feed half of northern Wyoming. What could she say? ‘I plan to seduce you, so eat up, you’re going to need the energy?’ Not exactly subtle.

“It’s nothing Rob, I’ve just missed seeing you this last week.”

“Are you mad at me?”

His eyebrows shot up at the use of his adult name. She’d started thinking of him that way once she’d decided she wanted to sleep with him.

“No. Not at all.”

“I… well… I’ve been thinking of you on more adult terms. So…” She let the sentence trail off because she didn’t know what else to say.

“Adult, huh?”

His expression hardened and a feral look crept into his eyes.

Suddenly, fear gripped her. Fear that she’d made a mistake and had crossed a line he wasn’t ready for, since he only stared and didn’t lean across the table to kiss her, as he’d said. She saved both of them further embarrassment. She leapt to her feet and went to the refrigerator for a bottle of water, even though her soda was nearly untouched. She needed to move.

She reached into the fridge and grabbed a bottle of water. When she turned back, he was right behind her. She smacked right into his chest, the door to the fridge still open.

“So, these ‘adult terms’? Does this skimpy outfit have something to do with that?” He moved in a little closer.

Heat poured off him, drenching her breasts, and the cold at her back wicked away the inferno raging inside of her.

Without waiting for an answer, he ran his hands up her spine and into her hair. “Like up close and personal adult terms?”

She was trapped between fire and ice. Both physically and emotionally. Dare she go for it and leap into the fire or should she shut down, back off and return to the cold, lonely world she’d gotten so used to. Never. The cold was not what she wanted. The fire drew her to bridge the distance between them… She looked him firmly in the eye and nodded.

“Excellent.” He lightly, oh so lightly, brushed his lips against hers.

Then he pulled back as if waiting for her response.

She gripped his shirt and pulled him back for a more luxurious kiss. He seemed to be happy to follow that suggestion. Tingles spread from her lips through her whole body and her heart sang out a happy yes.

When he pulled back the second time, he asked, “Are you sure about this, Chrissy?”

She sure as hell didn’t want him to stop. “Absolutely sure.”

He drew her with him, out of the refrigerator and across the room, past the table, into the living room, where he sank down on the couch and pulled her into his lap.

She dropped the water bottle on the floor, glad she hadn’t opened it. They kissed for long drugging moments. She could barely think, but she needed
